A Point of View

On craft, judgement, and what changes when the tools do.

Every generation of filmmakers inherits a new set of tools. Practical effects evolved alongside visual effects. New technologies arrived, were questioned, and eventually became part of the craft.

We’re not interested in technology for its own sake. We’re interested in the images it makes possible.

Every creative tool began as something new. The tools changed. The goal didn’t. Create something worth looking at.

Artificial intelligence is the latest addition to the toolbox. Used well, it can get us to the image faster. And sometimes to images we wouldn’t have found at all. We want to find those. Used poorly, it’s just noise.

What’s changed is the relationship. Working with AI feels less like using a tool and more like directing one. Giving it intention, deciding what’s worth keeping.

The value has never been in the tool. It’s in knowing what to do with it.

Experience, taste, and creative judgment matter more than ever. Technology can generate options. It can’t decide what belongs in the frame, what serves the story, or what makes an image resonate.

The tools will continue to change. The pursuit remains the same.

Thoughtful ideas. Memorable images. Work with intention.
